"The Way of Israel: Through the Old Testament Together"
Begins September 5, 10:30 a.m.

As a church, we have committed, after our “Time at the Table” retreat in the spring, is emphasizing growing in scripture knowledge and theological depth in rightly handling the Bible as the church. As a part of that emphasis, I am leading a study through the Old Testament Book by Book, that I call “The Way of Israel: Through the Old Testament Together.”

Description: http://media.zondervan.com/images/product/original/9780310211181.JPGEvery Wednesday morning during the school year, I teach a study open to ALL AGESThis group meets on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 am in the Adult Seminar Room across from the Library. It lasts exactly one hour and is open to anyone interested. You do not have to have any prior knowledge of the Bible or theology. All you need is a Bible and an inquisitive mind.  No one is “called on” in the class and there is no cost except for the books used in the class.

This year we will cover the entire Old Testament, from beginning to end, as we study the story of ancient Israel from both the vantage point of Holy Scripture and modern biblical studies. We will go book by book, and through the use of video, pictures and maps, learn the real story of the Old Testament. Our texts:  The Bible, New Revised Standard Version (but others welcome). Also, Fee and Stewart, How to Read the Bible Book by Book: A Guided Tour. Copies are available for sale in the church office now.
