Pastor Gary Furr will lead Bible study on the book of Psalms in the Fellowship Hall (see details just below); in the other track, special guest Chaplain Drexel Rayford will lead. October 1,8,15,22: Developing Faith: The Ways we Know God - with Dr. Drexel Rayford.
Pastor's topic for sessions October 1,8,15,22: "The Prayerbook of Jesus: Exploring the Psalms" The book of Psalms is the only book addressed entirely TO God. It was at the same time Israel's hymnal and the individual's devotional guide in the Old Testament. In this class we will learn about the Psalms both as an enduring part of both Jewish and Christian faith and also as a resource for Christians and the church today.

Oak Mountain State Park, Dogwood Pavilion, 3:30 - 6:00 p.m., Sunday, October 5. We'll have a fun evening with games and good food! Don't miss the Pumpkin Carving Contest and Corn Hole Tournament from 4 to 5 p.m., followed by a meal at 5:00 that will be excelled only by the enjoyment of each other's company. Southern States Dahlia Show, Saturday, October 4
Vestavia Hills Baptist Church Fellowship hosts this event on Saturday, October 4, open to the public from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
A feast of color will be on display at VHBC when dahlia growers from around the Southeast enter their prize blooms in competition. Members of the Dahlia Society of Alabama will be on hand to welcome visitors, answer questions and provide advice on growing show-quality dahlias.
