Wednesday Sessions
“The Practice of the Presence of God” Revisited
It was the French Monk, Brother Lawrence of the 1600s who encouraged others to live in the awareness of the presence of God at all times. Although this charge is compelling, what are the practical implications? David and Claudia will explore what it meant to walk in God’s presence in the lives of two Old Testament examples- David and Moses and along the way we will see how the experiences of these biblical models sometimes mirror our own.
Walking the Bible
Each week, walkers will hear a meditation on a biblical walk prior to taking to our neighborhood sidewalks. Guest leaders will offer insights and provide participants with some prompts to consider as they walk. Walkers may choose to visit our walking track, make their way up Vestavia Drive or Shades Crest, or circle our building’s exterior.
Watercolor Painting (SPACE LIMITED)
We can glimpse the character of God in the art and beauty of our world. Grace Johnson will lead participants through some basics of watercolor and identify ways in which the act of painting can both express and nurture our faith. This session requires a reservation and a $10 fee. Space limits participation to the first 15 who sign up by emailing Betsy Lowery. UPDATE AS OF WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 23: CLASS IS FULL.
