Want to join the count? 

Meet at the Adult Seminar room on Friday, August 22 between 9:00-11:00am. Counting takes only 15 minutes of observation, but you are invited to enjoy a drink of lemonade before you go. Our VHBC counting takes place in the Pollinator Garden just outside the seminar room. 

The Alabama Cooperative Extension System is buzzing with excitement to join neighbors in Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Florida in the Great Southeast Pollinator Census in August. On August 22 and 23, 2025, this citizen science project needs all hands on deck to observe, count, and celebrate the pollinators that keep Alabama’s ecosystem thriving. It is only possible with the help of friends and neighbors across the state. 

You can count anywhere you find a plant in bloom.
