Season of Giving 2027

Together We Give

Each October, Vestavia Hills Baptist Church sets aside a Season of Giving.  During this time, we intentionally focus on generosity as a spiritual practice and consider how our resources, time, gifts, and commitments support our church's shared ministry and mission.

Throughout the year, we strive to Live Generously.  We pause during October to pay particular attention to giving in our lives with God and one another.

This year, our Season of Giving theme is Together We Give.

Generosity is never simply an individual act. What each person offers becomes part of something larger. Financial gifts, time, abilities, service, and commitments come together to support a ministry none of us could sustain alone.

Throughout October, worship will explore four expressions of what it means to give together.

October 11
Together We Share

Generosity includes more than money. We share stories, relationships, resources, experiences, and abilities as part of our life together and our ministry in the world.

October 18
Together We Serve

The ministry of VHBC depends upon people offering time, presence, care, leadership, and abilities. Together, our gifts become our corporate ministry.

October 25
Together We Trust

Generosity is rooted in trust.  We trust God with what has been entrusted to us.  Together, we discover what God can do through our shared faithfulness.

Throughout the month, members of our church family will share stories in worship about the ways generosity has shaped their lives and the life of our congregation. Those stories will also be added to this page as they become available.

Together We Give
Stories

Throughout October, members of our VHBC family will share stories about giving, sharing, serving, and trusting. These stories remind us that stewardship is about more than numbers. Generosity takes shape in people, relationships, ministry, and the shared life of the church.

The commitments we make during October allow the church to plan responsibly for the ministry.`The 2027 Commitment Card asks households to indicate an amount they plan to contribute to the church in the next year.

Why a Season of Giving?

Our Anticipated 2027 Ministry Budget

Our ministry budget supports our shared life together: worship, discipleship, missions, pastoral care, children and student ministries, personnel, facilities, and the day-to-day work that makes ministry possible.

Make a 2027 Commitment

During the Season of Giving, VHBC members are invited to make a financial commitment for 2027.

These commitments help church leaders estimate expected giving as the 2027 Ministry Budget is developed and finalized. Commitments may be submitted throughout October, with responses requested by October 31.

Using the Commitment Card

Paper commitment cards are also available at church. The card provides several ways to communicate a commitment for the coming year.

Commitment Amount

Enter the planned giving amount and indicate whether it's weekly, monthly, or annual. For example, a commitment of $100 weekly represents $5,200 over the year.

How I/We Plan to Give

This section indicates how gifts are expected to be made, whether through automatic online giving, check, or another method. This information helps VHBC understand how commitments are likely to be received.

Cooperative Mission Giving

VHBC supports both the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and the Southern Baptist Convention. A household may designate either organization for Cooperative Mission Giving or leave the selection blank.

Planned Giving

This section lets you indicate whether VHBC is already included in a will or request information about including the church in an estate plan.

My Offering Card

In 2025, less than 20% of VHBC offerings came through the offering plates during worship. Many gifts now arrive online, automatically, or through the church office.

Throughout October, a reusable My Offering Card will be available in the pew racks for anyone who would like to participate visibly during the offertory.

Simply place the card in the offering plate as a sign of gratitude, generosity, and participation in our shared ministry. The card represents giving that has already taken place; it does not initiate a financial transaction or create an additional gift. Nothing needs to be written on the card, and its use is entirely optional.

After worship, the cards will be returned to the pew racks for use again the following Sunday.
