Shepherd Concert
at VHBC
On Sunday, September 20, at 10:00, the Music Ministry of Vestavia Hills Baptist Church presents “Faith, Hope, and Love” for the annual Shepherd Memorial Concert. The Sanctuary Choir will be joined by a professional chamber ensemble as we explore these three pillars of the Christian faith.

We will have the opportunity to celebrate the memory of our church’s beloved organist, Betty Sue Shepherd, to recognize the contributions of our Shepherd Scholars who sing in our Sanctuary Choir, and to be reminded of the opportunity to direct financial gifts toward the scholarship fund bearing her name. This scholarship connects area college and university students with Vestavia Hills Baptist Church and the Music Ministry.
The Shepherd Scholar program not only enhances the musical excellence of our Sanctuary Choir in worship each Sunday, but these scholars are also a part of the larger Vestavia Hills Baptist Church family through their participation in other areas of church life. These students are indeed recipients of a scholarship, but they are, more importantly, the recipients of the blessings of fellowship and support that is the heartbeat of VHBC. Current Shepherd Scholar Hooper Hammond says, “The Shepherd Scholarship has allowed me to meet, be advised by, and make beautiful music with a wonderful church. I hope that future scholars can have the same privilege.”
Calling all crafters! Join VHBC for its second annual Maker's Market and Craft Fair!
Do you craft? Do you make? We need you as a vendor! We want to fill the Fellowship Hall with artists, makers, and creators and share your story and gifts with everyone in the community!

This event coincides with our annual Shepherd's Concert on Sunday, September 20th, during worship. And for a special reason! A portion of the receipts from the sales at the craft fair will go to the Shepherd Scholarship Fund!
Each Shepherd Scholar is awarded $2400 per academic year, half of which is applied to their school account at the end of each semester. Gifts toward the Betty Sue Shepherd Memorial Scholarship Fund will be received during the worship concert on September 20, or they may be sent directly to the Church Office.
